Girls’ Life<\/em> magazine just got called out<\/a>\u00a0for perpetuating gender stereotypes.<\/p>\n

Facebook user Shoshanna Keats-Jaskoll was the first to catch the difference between\u00a0Girls’ Life\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Boys’ Life<\/em> magazine when she uploaded a photo<\/a> of the two covers side by side. She\u00a0addressed the\u00a0masthead of Girls’ Life<\/em>\u00a0in her caption\u00a0saying, “could there possibly be two more divergent messages?”<\/p>\n

You to girls: Be like this girl.\u00a0Wake up gorgeous, steal a girl’s secrets, slay on your first day, have fun, make friends… and kiss .. and get all A’s.\u00a0BOYS LIFE to boys:\u00a0Be what YOU want to be. Here are some of your awesome choices! We’ll show you how!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She then argued\u00a0that the magazine can and should “fight the tide of objectification of girls.\u00a0You CAN create covers and stories that treat girls as more than hair, lips and kisses.”<\/p>\n

Many voiced similar opinions on her Facebook post and more recently, Amy Schumer and Blake Lively shared their thoughts as well. Schumer reposted the\u00a0image with the simple caption, “No,” and Lively reposted\u00a0saying, “Wow. @amyschumer I second that emotion. Ladies, let’s not let this happen anymore…”<\/p>\n
