{"id":87653,"date":"2016-08-30T10:10:05","date_gmt":"2016-08-30T17:10:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fabfitfun.com\/magazine\/?p=87653"},"modified":"2016-08-30T10:10:05","modified_gmt":"2016-08-30T17:10:05","slug":"stanford-rapist-serve-only-half-of-sentence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fabfitfun.com\/magazine\/stanford-rapist-serve-only-half-of-sentence\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanford Rapist Will Only Serve Half His Sentence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock Turner, the Stanford swimmer convicted of rape, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.refinery29.com\/2016\/08\/121632\/stanford-rapist-released-from-jail\" target=\"_blank\">will be released from jail<\/a> this Friday.<\/p>\n<p>His case caught the nation&#8217;s attention when\u00a0he was given a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fabfitfun.com\/magazine\/an-open-letter-to-stanford-rapists-father\/\" target=\"_blank\">light sentence<\/a> after being convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.\u00a0The victim also <a href=\"https:\/\/fabfitfun.com\/magazine\/victim-open-letter-to-stanford-attacker\/\" target=\"_blank\">penned an open letter<\/a> to Turner about his\u00a0crime.<\/p>\n<p>Turner was given a six-month sentence but will only be serving half of it as he will be\u00a0released on September 2.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/kron4.com\/2016\/06\/09\/brock-turner-expected-to-leave-jail-2-months-early\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bay Area TV station KRON<\/a>, &#8220;Inmates in the Santa Clara County prison typically serve half their sentences given good behavior, which is a standard for state inmates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What are your thoughts on his early release?
