Elaine, it’s truly inspiring to see a strong, smart woman like yourself not only in a leadership role but as the founder and CEO of a thriving brand. What does that mean to you personally, and how important is fostering relationships with other women-founded companies, like ours here at FFF with Katie Kitchens, to you and Spongell\u00e9?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thank you \u2013 that means so much! As a woman founder and CEO, it\u2019s incredibly meaningful to lead a brand like Spongell\u00e9 that reflects both creativity and resilience. Personally, it\u2019s a point of pride, but also a responsibility to continue pushing boundaries and creating opportunities for others. Building relationships with other women-founded companies, like FabFitFun founder Katie Kitchens, is not just important \u2013 it\u2019s essential. When we support and uplift each other, we strengthen our collective impact. Collaboration over competition is how we all grow, and I deeply value the sense of community and shared purpose among women entrepreneurs.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Can you please talk to us a bit about how Spongell\u00e9 came to be?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spongell\u00e9 was inspired by a personal moment at home. My youngest son, Daniel, used to go through body wash like water using almost a quarter of the bottle in a single shower. We found ourselves constantly restocking, and it got me thinking: why isn\u2019t there a more efficient way to use body wash that also reduces waste? I couldn\u2019t find anything like it on the market, so I set out to create it. That\u2019s how Spongell\u00e9 was born \u2013 a personal care brand built around a unique delivery system that infuses the perfect amount of body wash into each buffer. Our products are designed to cleanse, exfoliate, massage, and nourish the skin while minimizing plastic waste and overconsumption.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Spongell\u00e9 proudly manufactures in the US. Why has maintaining US manufacturing been so important to you and the brand since 2003, and what advantages does it offer in terms of quality, innovation, and even responsiveness to consumer needs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maintaining U.S. manufacturing has been a core value for Spongell\u00e9 since the very beginning. It allows us to have complete control over the quality, safety, and consistency of every product we create. By manufacturing locally in Los Angeles, we’re able to innovate quickly, respond to trends in real time, and customize offerings based on what our customers are asking for. It also allows us to work closely with our team and uphold high standards throughout every step of the process from formulation to final packaging. Supporting U.S. manufacturing means supporting local jobs, ethical labor practices, and a more sustainable supply chain which defines who we are as a brand.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

That commitment was tested nearly 25 years ago, when we were offered the opportunity to manufacture our products in China and we said no. We even visited the largest soap supplier at the time in China, who was producing for Walmart USA, and challenged them to replicate our concept. A year later, they still couldn\u2019t do it. That\u2019s when we knew we had created something truly unique and that it could only be made in the USA.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Beyond Cleansing is more than just a tagline. We want to elevate your entire shower or bath experience into something that feels luxurious, effective, and thoughtful. We know you’re passionate about fragrance, even studying perfumery in Grasse, France! Can you talk to us a bit about that experience?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have always been amused by fragrance. Even as a child, I could detect individual notes before I understood what that meant. Watching the film Perfume later in life had a profound and lasting impact on me, and it deepened my desire to explore the art of scent. When Spongell\u00e9 was born, I knew I wanted to go beyond curiosity and formally study perfumery. That journey took me to Grasse, France \u2013 the heart of fragrance where I immersed myself in learning, creating, and refining the craft that continues to inspire everything we do at Spongell\u00e9.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Evolving and Innovating<\/strong><\/h2>\n
