It\u2019s not a quick fix though\u2026you have to make these changes and stick with them but your body will thank you in the long run!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Get eight hours of sleep<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sleeping enough during the night is a simple yet easy way to build up your immune system, mostly because immunity and rest are very closely linked. That\u2019s why you feel so tired when you\u2019re sick as your body is using its strength to fight the illness. It\u2019s also why you sleep so much when you\u2019re sick. If you can get at least eight hours every night, you\u2019ll be able to fight off any cold or virus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Incorporate immune-boosting foods into your diet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the saying is \u201can apple a day keeps the doctor away,&#8221; it\u2019s important to know that there are other foods that are essential in building up your immune system. Garlic, vitamin C, and antioxidant-enriched foods such as oranges, broccoli, kiwi, and berries are what you should reach for when you\u2019re wanting to keep illness at bay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Take probiotics to keep a healthy gut<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gut health is so important in your overall wellbeing but it is really key in having a healthy immune system. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3337124\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Studies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> show that healthy gut bacteria helps your immune cells tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy cells. You can give your body the probiotics it needs by eating more fermented foods such as yogurt or you can take a daily probiotic supplement. A healthy gut means a better equipped immune system!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Exercise regularly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This might seem very obvious but if you regularly exercise, whether that\u2019s a daily walk, a Peloton class, or weight lifting, you will be strong enough to fight off illness. If you\u2019re regularly exercising, your immune system will be able to maintain itself, regenerate regularly, and reduce inflammation in cells.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep stress to a minimum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is easier said than done when there is so much to be stressed about, all the time. However, stress causes inflammation and imbalance in immune cells, which can lower your body\u2019s response time to illness.
