In fact, the smallest changes in your lifestyle can make a bigger difference than you’d think – and you can start today by being more intentional with how you use items in your kitchen and home.

Here are some swaps you can make that will help you live your best green life.

P.S. If you want more lifestyle goods, use code SUNFUN at checkout for 10% off your first box.

Metal straws
Did you know that plastic straws are one of the most common items found during beach cleanups? Plus, straws don’t biodegrade – rather, they break down into smaller and smaller pieces in the ocean. To do your part, store away your plastic straws and opt for reusable metal ones instead. Not only are they more sustainable, but they won’t bend and break like plastic straws (that’s a win-win in our book!).

Reusable kitchen tools
If you can help it, try not to use plastic utensils or kitchen tools as there are plenty of environmentally-friendly alternatives available. We love the Architec™ Wooden Spoons because you get five different types of cooking tools, and they’re all made from bamboo.

Silicone food pouches
These are a great alternative to plastic baggies because of their space-saving capacity. They are dishwasher-safe and can even be used to quickly steam ingredients, such as hard-boiled eggs or broccoli.

Reusable grocery bags
Save your cents and bring your own tote or reusable grocery bags (your local grocer probably sells some for competitive prices!) the next time you go grocery shopping. If you’re constantly forgetting your reusable bags, keep some folded under the seat of your car or in your bike basket so you never forget them.

Mesh produce bags
Ditch the plastic produce baggies! We recommend investing in washable mesh produce bags, which are reusable. Plus, it’s such an easy swap!

Bee’s wrap paper or fabric bowl covers
Plastic shrink wrap or aluminum foil is normally used for a short period of time, but replacing those with bee’s wrap paper or any kind of washable fabric bowl covers will cut down on your waste.

Glass or steel storage containers
This is another great product to help you reduce waste. Buying goods in bulk from your grocery store, which you’ll often find in big siloed containers, is also a cheaper alternative to buying individually packaged items such as pasta, grains, and cereal. Store them in glass storage containers when you get home!

Compostable garbage bags
Since garbage bags are disposable, it’s easy to forget about them. However, there are a number of affordable, compostable, and biodegradable options on the market.

xx, The FabFitFun Team

Psst!
