With popular stores like Free People, H&M, and ASOS making their mark in the ethical fashion movement, more retailers have been taking steps toward more eco-friendly alternatives \u2013 one being vegan leather.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that what we\u2019re seeing is the perfect ethical storm,\u201d says Caroline Francis, founder of luxury vegan retailer VOKE<\/a>. \u201cFeminists, environmentalists, animal rights activists, health activists, and economists are recognizing the livestock industry as a common thread in the causes they\u2019re fighting for.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Francis points out, a 2018 study found the non-animal leather footprint to be only one-third of its animal-derived counterpart. With the connection made between vegan fashion and environmental sustainability, there’s been a spike in eco-conscious millennials seeking vegan alternatives. The bottom line is, faux leather, faux fur, and sustainable everything are refreshingly on trend.<\/p>\n
