The Met Gala is arguably the most anticipated fashion event of the year as celebs and style icons alike break out their best, most outrageous looks for the red carpet \u2013 it’s basically the Super Bowl of high fashion.<\/p>\n

The annual, invitation-only party is held to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art\u2019s Costume Institute in New York. This year’s theme? Camp. No, not like the summer camp you used to attend as a kid.<\/p>\n

Camp is inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay Notes on “Camp,”<\/em>\u00a0which is also the framework of the Met Museum’s newest exhibition, Camp: Notes on Fashion<\/a>. It’s all about a unique aesthetic that features “elements of irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality, and exaggeration,” according to the Met.<\/p>\n
