Here&#8217;s everything you need to know about this vaginal condition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is it?<\/strong><br \/>\nBacterial vaginosis is the most common genital tract disorder in women and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/bacterial_vaginosis_causes_symptoms_treatment\/article.htm#what_is_bacterial_vaginosis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">caused by<\/a> an overgrowth of unhealthy bacteria in the vagina. While it\u2019s normal to have some of this bacteria in your vagina, it becomes a problem when there&#8217;s an abnormal balance of healthy and unhealthy vaginal bacteria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/std\/bv\/stdfact-bacterial-vaginosis.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">symptoms<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thin white or grey vaginal discharge<\/li>\n<li>Pain, itching, or burning<\/li>\n<li>Fishy smell (especially after sex)<\/li>\n<li>Burning when urinating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Can it be treated?<\/strong><br \/>\nTypically, bacterial vaginosis can be treated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealth.gov\/a-z-topics\/bacterial-vaginosis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">antibiotics<\/a> prescribed by a doctor. You can also take preventative measures such as taking probiotic supplements to maintain healthy vaginal pH levels.
