Like all of you we cannot wait for the return of True Blood next summer! We recently caught up with actress Lauren Bowles, aka the charming Holly Cleary, to chat about balancing life, staying fit, and what it’s like to be a part of one of the hottest shows on television. In addition to Lauren’s busy schedule as an actress, her husband, Patrick Fischler of Scandal, Mad Men, and Lost, and her sister, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, are in “the biz.”
How Lauren stays fit: “When traveling I practice with online yoga classes. You can do yoga anywhere which is why I love it. I try to practice four days a week and at least once during busy weeks. I switch it up, adding cardio classes to the mix when I’m home.”
What she packs to stay healthy on the road: “Stores and restaurants can be sparse and when you find them they’re only selling candy. Eating is certainly the bigger challenge when on the road and traveling. I try to avoid bad options by packing protein bars and nuts.”
Dishing on her True Blood co-stars’ diets: “I joke that the guys are the ‘chicks’ on True Blood! In their defense, they are shirtless for 80% of an episode! The guys — Alexander Skarsgård, Ryan Kwanten, Joe Manganiello, and Stephen Moyer — seem to eat nothing but chicken and steamed broccoli the entire time. I don’t think they touch a carb when we’re in production!”
The one thing she cannot live without: I’m not one of those people who can function well on too little sleep. Being more tired the next day makes us more apt to make bad choices. I try to avoid the snowball!’
What she’s reading: I used to be obsessed with US Weekly. It’s completely been replaced by Whole Living and Yoga Journal!
