They reinvented the tie-dye industry. Gypsy 05 incorporates organic fabrics, soy softeners, low-impact dyes, and seaweed extract printing when developing its clothing. “Caring for the planet is just part of our DNA. We always knew that we needed to do something about it.”
The founders are siblings. Dotan Shoham and Osi Ettlinger are the power duo behind the brand. While some of us may be hesitant to start a business with family, the Shoham siblings were all in from the beginning. “We have tremendous respect [for] each other.”
Their warehouse is environmentally-friendly. Gypsy 05 not only creates environmentally focused clothing, but its corporate headquarters is also offsetting its carbon footprint. It’s the first completely solar-powered dyeing, printing, and manufacturing facility in California. Now that’s what we call fashion forward.
The brand name is a reflection of how they live. Dotan and Osi are free-spirited travel enthusiasts — and they take inspiration everywhere they go. “[We] enjoy a casual, relaxed lifestyle that is very much inspired by different cultures and experiences.”
They’re predicting the trends for spring. Spring is all about bohemian-esque, refreshing clothing. “We are really enjoying the return of skirts and clothing inspired by lingerie as [everyday wear], such as silk cami dresses. Also, high-waisted denim has had a big comeback. Maxi dresses have always been a staple of our brand and are also making a big comeback for spring/summer combined with the off-the-shoulder look.”
