Choose a Color Palette

The first step in setting the table (and the mood) is choosing a color palette. This will be the color you build everything else around, including plates, napkins, glasses, and decor. Once you make this decision, everything else will come together. This season, blues and greens are trending, so we’re basing ours around these two hues that evoke feelings of freshness and the outdoors.

Create the Base

The base of your tablescape really sets the tone for the entire gathering. The textures should, of course, go along with your color palette, but you also need to consider the theme and seasonality of what you choose.

For spring, these Katie Kime Striped Placemats will make any table pop and because of the soft texture; there’s no need for a tablecloth. They tie nicely in with the other items you’ll have on hand and add a fun, warm weather flair. Fitting with our earth-friendly theme, these placemats are sustainable as they’re made of 25 recycled water bottles and completely reusable!

  Set out the Essentials

When it comes to the main event of a tablescape, plates and utensils are key. You’ll want the colors of these essentials to match the theme and color palette, but you can also use these items as accent colors.

The Katie Kime Melamine Plates are perfect for an outdoor spring gathering thanks to their unique coloring and durable material. There’s no need to worry about them breaking, and they look nicer (and are more environmentally friendly) than paper plates. You can mix and match the solid and floral to create some visual variety.

These plates complement the Jonathan Adler Ribbed Glass Set in green, which adds a little something extra to the tablescape and will look beautiful on the striped placemats.

Add the Extras

A tablescape is not complete without the extras. When these items are incorporated seamlessly along with your theme and color palette, they make the entire day come together. Think flowers, greenery, eye-catching bowls, candles — all lining the center of the table. Two extras that add something delightful to a spring gathering are the Katie Kime Ceramic Berry Bowls and the Jonathan Adler Bedside Carafe Set

You don’t have to use the ceramic berry bowls just for berries — you can use them as mini centerpieces and add flowers or have them house beautiful decorative napkins. You can customize the use to fit your needs.

The bedside carafe isn’t just for middle of the night water breaks… you can fill these gorgeous green colored pitchers with cocktails, mocktails, or water, and have multiples set across the table. It’s functional but also acts as decor, which is ideal for a tablescape.
