We are kind of obsessed with Facebook’s new social good initiative.
As of Thursday, Facebook launched a new tool which allows individual users within the U.S. to create dedicated fundraiser pages to raise money for their favorite nonprofit organizations. This feature is available to only a select group of users right now, but will slowly roll out to the rest of the Facebook community in the coming weeks.
The launch is an initiative by Facebook’s Social Good team which is focused on creating tools to make it easier for users to do good in the world. The Social Good team is also responsible for creating Amber Alerts to search for missing children, a “Donate Now” button at the top of news feeds for specific causes (like the Nepal Earthquake), and a more transparent “Donate” option on verified, nonprofit Facebook pages.
