Nothing gets us more excited than a woman who knows how to work a blazer. For as long we can remember, blazers were mainly worn with a co-ord counterpart: the matching pant. However, rocking the blazer is a power move that doesn’t call for a power suit.

As we transition to fall, dust off those blazers and bring them to the front of your closet. Here are some ways you can rock this stylish, lightweight jacket in the coming months.

As a Dress

If you find an oversized blazer, button it up and wear it as a dress. While oversized, this actually creates a simple silhouette and gives your legs a moment to shine. If you’re not about it, pairing it with a short dress will offer up the same effect. We recommend pairing this look with strappy sandals (if you’re somewhere with a warmer fall), or your favorite mid-calf ’70s boots and sheer tights.

Pair With a Vintage Tee

Blazers don’t always mean business, sometimes they mean you belong backstage. One of our favorite ways to wear a blazer is with a vintage concert or plain white tee, 70’s-style bell bottoms, and our most stylish sneakers or boots. It’s a look where class meets cool and we’re all about it this fall (and forever).

Do It Like Cher

We love the relentless trends from the ’90s that have resurrected. Take note from our girl Cher in Clueless and pair your blazer with a turtleneck top and plaid skirt. This look is understated, sophisticated, and ultimately much appreciated.

As a Set

So, it’s not totally terrible to rock your blazer with a pant that compliments it. Whether you’ve already got a set down or you’re mixing and matching, nothing says, “I have my life together” quite like a sophisticated and fun set. We’re into the ’70s inspired blazer sets that are coming back — and you should be too.

Make It Monochromatic

Tone it down and still elevate your look when you try keeping it monochromatic. If you’re wearing a red blazer, pair it with a red top and bottom. Something we love is the cream-inspired fits — yes, even after Labor Day. Opt for a creamy blazer, and soft-beige knit, and your favorite white bottoms.
