The Gilmore Girls are back! After what seemed like years (wait, it did take years), our favorite citizens of Stars Hollow reunited for a four-part mini series on Netflix.
The first episodes, Winter and Spring, definitely didn’t disappoint, but just in case you haven’t had time to watch the show, here’s a list of everything you missed. Warning: spoilers ahead!
Grab some pop tarts and dig in.
The first few moments gave us all the feels. A voice-over montage of some of the most iconic lines of the show played over the opening credits, which took us back to past memories of the show. As soon as Lorelai said, “I smell snow,” we saw a small snow covered town with a quaint gazebo. Lorelai sat on the gazebo steps drinking her coffee and Rory sat beside her. With a rapid-fire conversation, more coffee, and some tacos, it felt like no time had gone by.
One of Rory’s articles is in The New Yorker. Luke even placed a copy of the article on the back of his menus just to show how proud he was. The article, however, was just about the only thing that was going right with Rory’s career.
Rory has a boyfriend that everyone, including Rory, forgets about. Though she and Paul (or is it Pete? Patrick?) were dating for a while, it’s nothing special.
Lorelai and Luke are living together. The relationship we’ve always wanted to happen was still going strong, but not exactly moving forward. Though they discussed having kids, they tabled the idea and continued as “roommates” — at least that’s what Emily called them.
Emily Gilmore actually kept a maid. In all seven season of the show, it was a widely known fact that there would be a new maid-or two in every episode. Now, with Richard gone, the house seemed quiet, so when the maid’s husband and kids showed up to live at the house, Emily put them to work. Did Emily find the perfect maid, or is it because she felt alone with no one else in the house?
Richard’s absence leaves a big whole in everyone’s hearts. Whether it’s because we saw Richard’s giant portrait on the wall or saw Emily throw out the dining chairs because they didn’t bring her joy, we know that Richard’s death really hit the family hard.
Rory is not so innocent anymore. Despite having a boyfriend, Rory stayed with Logan every time she was in London and was totally fine with the “friends with benefits” situation. Oh, and she had been lying to Lorelai about this for a while. Rory even got incredibly drunk and slept with a Wookiee! (Yep, you read that last part right.)
Mr. Kim makes an appearance. We never saw him once while the show was on air, but just for a few moments, we saw for ourselves that Mr. Kim really did exist.
The Dragonfly has a new chef- or series of chefs. Sookie was on sabbatical to find new food creations, and whoever they found to take over has some big shoes to fill. Lorelai tested out several chefs during “pop-up” events, but no one felt right. She even hired and fired celebrity chef Rachel Ray. It just goes to show that no one can ever take Sookie’s place.
Paris may be the most sought after fertility and surrogacy specialist, but she’s still Paris Gellar. Yes, she showed Luke and Lorelai the ropes when it came to having a baby via surrogacy, but it wasn’t her fancy job that we loved the most. Paris’s awkward relationship with her children, her attitude toward her divorce with Doyle, and her ability to make almost anyone break into tears after a few minutes with her still showed that Paris is the same girl we can’t get enough of.
Richard leaves Luke money. Richard’s will stated that an allotment of money should go to Luke to franchise the diner. Luke ended up looking at possible locations with Emily, but didn’t tell Lorelai because he was upset that Lorelai didn’t tell him that she was going to therapy.
Hep Alien still totally rocks. Enough said.
