Gym, tan, laundry…

Three totally insignificant, seemingly unrelated words were forever changed by a group of hard partying, vodka loving, über tanned and toned Jersey Shore kids!

Although Jersey Shore has been off the air for over two years, their sun kissed legacy will reign on in pop culture history forever.

We had the pleasure of chatting with one half of the mighty meatball duo — Deena Nicole Cortese chats about post shore life, her budding music career, her love life, and her new television show Couples Therapy!

You were very close with past cast members on the Jersey Shore. Do you still keep in touch with any of them?
I keep in touch with the girls of the cast and I also talk to Pauly occasionally. We will always be family!

What do miss the most about the Jersey Shore cast?
I miss all of us staying in the shore house. It had a certain smell to it and it always was a mess, but it was still home!

How have you grown as a person since the show?
I definitely have grown as a person. I have thicker skin and I gained a lot of self confidence. I used to let what others thought of me really get to me and now I believe in myself. I got all of my partying out too! These days I would rather just relax and have low key nights.

How has life changed for you from going to a regular Jersey girl to a now famed reality star?
My life hasn’t changed much for the most part. I hang out with the same friends I hung out with before the show, the only difference is that people recognize me now from Jersey Shore. At this point everyone is used to me being around my hometown, haha — I can go anywhere without a problem just like I used to.

You were as you like to say “a blast in a glass” on Jersey Shore. What should we look forward to on your Couples Therapy debut?
You’re going to see a different side of me. On Jersey Shore everyone just saw the quirky and emotional party girl. On Couples Therapy you’re going to get to see my life and relationship in a completely different aspect. I explain a lot of why I was so emotional the last season of Jersey Shore.

What are the best pieces of relationship advice that you’ve learned from Dr. Jenn on Couples Therapy?
The best advice Dr. Jenn gave me was… “You’re only as sick as your biggest secret.” She helped me open up a lot about my OCD and anxiety without being embarrassed and ashamed.

How would you describe your musical sound?
I would say it’s pop rock. It’s catchy but it’s fun and relatable.

Which music artists inspire your music career?
Pink is one of my biggest inspirations. She’s amazing.

What’s on your playlist right now?
I have so many different things on my playlist! A couple of my faves are Maps by Maroon 5, Don’t Leave by Ellie Goulding and Bailando by Enrique Iglesias.

When can we check out your new single?
Hopefully within the next couple months! Right now we are working on our next moves — the songs are finished, we are just finalizing some things. I can’t wait to share all my hard work with my fans.

What’s your go-to sexy cocktail you order when on a hot date, or out and about?
My go-to cocktail is either a glass of Merlot or an Appletini — sexy but classy.

What are some must-have beauty products that you carry in your purse all the time?
I’m actually pretty simple these days! I feel like less is more. Usually I make sure I have lip gloss/Chapstick and eye liner…mascara — nothing crazy.

Do you have a regular fitness routine? How do you keep your body ready for all those bikinis at the Jersey Shore?
I honestly hate working out, haha, but I’m short and curvy so I need to always watch. When I do work out I usually look to the treadmill or I play tennis. As long as I am doing something, even if it’s for a small amount of time, I feel good about it.

You recently attended Snooki’s bridal shower. How’s your love life? What do you look for in a guy?
My love life is amazing! My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost three years. A good personality usually wins me over…I also really fell for my boyfriend’s dimples. He’s such a cutie.

A lot of your Jersey Shore costars have become parents! Do you see kids in your future?
I do see kids in the future but right now Chris and I are focused on finding a place together and starting our lives together.

Do you still go by the motto “Gym, Tan, Laundry”?
Kind of, but not as much! I go tanning here and there…I work out at my house…and I try to NOT do laundry a lot, but sometimes you have to!
