Just as timeless as the LBD, denim is an iconic fashion staple that will never go out of style. But that’s not to say that finding the perfect pair doesn’t come with its share of challenges, as some pairs may fit nice and snug on the waist, but remain loose in other areas.

Celebrity stylist Soneca Guadara explains that if you’re constantly struggling to find the right fit, it’s probably because you aren’t looking for pairs that are appropriate for your height.

Below, we’re breaking down the best brands for the petite, average, and tall ladies.

Petite

Guadara says petite bodies should opt for jeans with a skinny or straight fit because you don’t want excess fabric hanging down the leg. Tailoring your pants, she adds, can also be equally helpful for those on the smaller side. “Tailor or hem your pants if too long,” she explains. “Jeans that end at your ankle will make your legs look a lot longer.”

Tall

If you’re on the taller side, Guadara explains that you can practically wear almost any type of denim of your choosing. However, she always advises picking a pair of jeans that have a big enough inseam to ensure you don’t end up with an awkward length. “Low-rise flared jeans will balance out a longer torso,” she advises. “High-waist jeans will flaunt your height.”
