13 Ways to Style a Floral Kimono

So funny. Its now August 2020, and my kimono REMAINS colorfast, unfrayed, unshrunk. I had not seen this article, but reading a year later and knowing this is still one of my favorite loungewear pieces makes me happy I selected it.

My aunt gave me her Kimono from her box. I absolutely love it! Mine is super soft (almost silky) and doesn’t look cheap. The seams are good with no strings. I have washed several times with no issue (even accidentally dried it). I don’t know where some of you purchased or which box you received one but they sound like knock offs to me.

This kimono is so over priced and the quality is terrible. There are frayed edges that have strings coming out and a bunch of the seams are coming apart. I haven’t even worn it yet, I have a feeling it would fall apart if I washed it. Definitely not worth $60.

This blog turned out to be useless. I was looking for ways to wear the kimono and everyone is wearing it the same! I guess I'll just keep doing what I've been doing... Wear it open over whatever I'm wearing as long as it isn't too "busy"/wrong colour.

The kimono would work better if there was a way to wrap it and have a slit to pull the strap through - odd design

I wore it once and got soooo many compliments on it-The first time I washed it, it started to fall apart...strings everywhere, two decent sized holes...super bummed about it :/

My box came without the Kimono, after reading some of the reviews I may be happy that I didn't get one. Sadly it wasn't the only thing missing from this box.

Oh my gosh, I couldn't wait to get the kimono! What a big disappointment. Didn't fit, was super cheap looking. I gave it away along with other items in the box. Last box was awesome. This box was a waste of money. Hopefully the next one will be better.

I have at least a dozen items bought direct from spiritual gangster, this is not something they would sell in store. Don’t know why companies agree to produce a low quality item for things like this. Someone who isn’t familiar with brand will assume they are cheap and low quality. There items in store are high quality, super soft, and well made. Personally, I would never wear this as it is so substandard to the actual brand. Fail.

I am a size 6-8. Love this. I tie the ends together around my waist in front. Causing shorter jacket length. The back hangs over Then I tie the belt around the tie in the middle Love love the look. Of course I wear a shirt under. The way it hangs and with the sleeves draping, I end up with the cutest outfit. Looks great with skinny jeans and big earrings. Love this addition to my wardrobe.

This is kinda hilarious, some people complaining about the kimono only working for “skinny people” and others complaining it’s too huge! I’m a size 10-12, and it works fine for me. Also, not sure if FFF updated the photos, but there are clearly a range of body types featured now. My ties work fine; I think this piece is meant to be layered over other garments if wearing outside the house, not meant to close entirely. Incidentally, Linda Cardellini’s character in Dead To Me wore a similar garment.

I agree w the comments regarding poor quality and size. I’m a size 14-16, and it fits fine, so for smaller girls it’s probably huge. Some of my seams aren’t sewn and there’s fabric shred. I’m going to try to sell it online. First box I got was great but the summer box, not so much. Didn’t really want anything it came with.

I agree. I thought it was really cute when I got it but I’m a size 6-8 petite and it’s huge. Could never wear outside but I wear it in the house and tie in the back.

Yeah gave the kimono to my size 0 daughter. Also the wine cups are pretty flimsy. Can’t drink out of them without them collapsing at the mouth. Maybe I’m doing it wrong lol

I am a size 8 and the kimono looks terrible on me. It is just too huge! Never wearing.

I received my Kimono and decided to pair it with black skinny pants and a black cami for work the next morning. When I was hanging it up to steam the wrinkles I saw that the left shoulder seam wasn’t sewn and had frayed a bit. I immediately contacted FFF through their chat feature on their website. They asked for a photo which I sent and was told that I’d receive a replacement in two weeks. About three weeks later I received my replacement along with a box of 5 Skin111 rose gold masks (retail value of $160!!). I couldn’t be happier with how this issue was handled. I love the kimono as well, it’s super cute and fits great (I’m 5’4” and approx a size 12). I’ve probably worn it 4-5 times already, pairing with black skinny pants and a black cami for more casual work days, with a raspberry colored maxi for a afternoon graduation party, with a black dress for a dinner date with my husband and with a white tee and cut-off shorts for a day of shopping and lunch with friends. I’ve gotten compliments from people every time that I’ve worn it. I’m actually thinking of buying another from Spiritual Gangster in another print!

I was super disappointed with the latest box. The kimono is huge! I have absolutely zero use for it. The only item I was kinda okay with is the necklace. I sure hope the next box doesn’t disappoint!

I love my Kimono! It has quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. I'm a size 14 and I have a large bust and it still looks super cute on me so I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about.

Mine was washed once and the ties basically shredded and started ripping away ????

So glad I'm not the only one who is passing this item on to skinny friend! I had to laugh at the odd collar thing described as a belt; I was like "only if you want an empire waistline".

I received my kimono and one of the seams was frayed on the arm. They replaced it for me immediately. I really like it a lot. I’m average sized and it’s really cute. I wear it around the house as part of my jammies.

Very disappointed with the kimono. Went to iron it bc it's SO wrinkled and noticed that one of the pockets is frayed as a result of the edge not being turned under when sewn. I wish it could be returned.

The kimono was way too small. I’ll be giving it to a friend. Such a bummer.

Ok I find this hilarious....I received my first ever box and I was thrilled with everything in it except this Kimono. I immediately gave it to one of my very skinny friends and she loved it. It is adorable however you really need to be a size 0 to wear it...other than that I loved my goodies!

OMG...in reading these comments...I too was not in love with my Summer Box and was looking at the kimono (which I didn’t get) to see what I missed out on.

Whew. Well now I feel a lot better. I was so flabbergasted the thing didn’t close. There’s no way I’m wearing that thing.

My friend and I are really "normal" shape and we are wearing this kimono even getting to work at the office. Personnally I wear it often with black skinny pants and a black cami, kimono open. Really like it!!

Agree with everyone on this. I also thought I would be able to find photos of different ways to wear it, nothing! I absolutely have no use for this kimono. How can we exchange it for something else!?

Add me to the list. I came specifically to see pictures of how to wear it because it’s pretty odd. Turns out it’s ok as a photo prop but not as a real article of clothing. I’m 5’4 size 10, and this is too long to wear as a top, the ties don’t really tie and it’s not wide enough for me even though it supposedly fits up to a size 16. I think we should band together and ask to exchange it? The whole box was meh. “Black eyeliner” How groundbreaking.

I agree with rampmama, some body diversity would be nice. The Kimono states it will fit up to size 16. I am a size 14 and got it and can not wear it anything like the thinner ladies that are featured. Maybe if some photos of a variety of size women would give ideas of ways that us larger women could wear things such as this.

Omg sammmme! Not only did get one on my spring box, but you send me that quite literally is useless, I was scouring online thinking I must be an idiot because these ties don’t tie at all, and here I see the pic of the blonde model all tied up, how? And it says multiple ways? It looks goofy to just it hang with the faux ties just chilling. This whole box was awful. I’ll only use the face mask. I did do the felt board but honestly it looks so cheap. So I guess it’s a bust and i’ll Be regifting for Xmas ????????‍♀️

Agree with all the above comments. Kimono is useless to me. It doesn’t even tie in the front to close. And being a plus size woman it looks even worse. Pretty disappointed in my summer box :(

I so agree with all comments, I too am not happy with my summer box, especially the kimono. I looked at all the pictures of the women you show that are wearing it, however that is not what it looks like on me, I am no size 0, 2, or 4, I am a size 8-10 and it still does not look good.Totally useless item.

Agree this robe sucks. These bloggers aren’t using it realistically, and the ties are a complete waste. Not a fan....feels like the maker needed to offload some bad inventory and we’re the suckers who got it.

Yup, the Kimono kind of suuuuucks. What's up with the weird ties that aren't ties? A robe does not a kimono make. The minute I put it on I thought, 'welp, this is going to hang in my closet until I have time to do some sewing.'

I wish I would have opted for the spring robe, I think I would have liked it much better than the kimono.

My least favorite box. Agree with the comment above in regards to the Kimono. Loved the Spring robe, unfortunately, not the Kimono at all.

I have to say that I don’t get it at all. It doesn’t close in the front. I normally wouldn’t be so negative, but I’m not happy about getting another robe as one of my summer items after getting one for spring. And then to see that it’s not really useful for me...this overall box felt like a waste of money. On the plus side, the material will make a cute pillow ????
