The Perfect Invite
We all know you only get one chance to make a first impression — think about that guy at the club who walked up to you with a piece of spinach in his teeth. He was smart, he was cute, but for the rest of the night you secretly referred to him as Popeye.
Anyway, if your wedding has a first impression, it would be your invitations! And we all want to make them special. But just how do you make them pop without making your bank account drop?
Meet Laura Ching, co-founder of Wedding Paper Divas, the online destination for premium wedding stationery. After a frustrating experience looking for her own invitations, Laura partnered with two friends to create a more convenient and stylish way to shop for wedding stationery online. Drawing inspiration from fabrics, interior design, travel, and foreign cultures, Wedding Paper Divas has some of our favorite and super affordable invitations.
We chatted with Laura about the most fabulous new trends in invitations for summer 2012! Check out her stylish tips:
Pick a Signature: Choose one element that you can include throughout all your wedding stationery. It can be an emblem, font style, color, or motif. Vintage crests or simple seals with your monograms or wedding date are very popular options. The signature can carry through on everything from your save the date cards to your thank you notes to even your wedding day, giving everything a cohesive look and feel.
Mix and Match: Love comes in all shapes and sizes. Infuse the perfect mix of tradition and avant-garde touches in your design, wording, layout, size and color to complement your personality. We love the ornate styling of vintage designs, but instead of sticking with only traditional or soft, faded color palettes, we infuse them with bright, bold colors, which add a modern edge.
Order a Sample: It’s important to confirm the quality of the paper and printing. You never know if the design will truly match what you’ve pictured until you’re holding it in your hands.
Make it Personal: Add a special quote or phrase to the bottom of your invitation that is meaningful to you as a couple. As more states are legalizing same-sex weddings, one lovely phrase that’s remained memorable and popular has been “All love is equal.”
Get Inspired: Don’t shy away from non-wedding inspiration! You can find beautiful color palettes in home interiors or travel magazines and who doesn’t love a gorgeous celebrity wedding?
