Get down in the Big Easy and enjoy the warm and soulful culture of New Orleans. The spirited city gave birth to jazz music and those giant go-to hurricanes are sure to put you under a Voodoo spell.

Spend your afternoon sipping on coffee and eating some yummy beignets at the world-famous Cafe Du Monde. The fabulous patio is perfect for checking out all the crazy characters New Orleans has to offer!
Shop the beautiful French Quarter! Canal Street has your designer duds, the French Market will satisfy your flea market itch, and Jax Brewery is an awesome brewery turned mall!
2 Fit Things
Take a run though the historical Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and the Barataria Preserve Unit! This jog will highlight the importance of the Mississippi River to the city, as well as show off the gorgeous natural scenery!
OK, so it may not be the most challenging physical activity, but it’s definitely better than polishing off that 16th beignet! Whether you prefer to paddle or row, you can rent your choice of boat at City Park and get connected to the ducks, geese, and swans!

The famed home of Mardi Gras is a party all year long. Make sure to stop at Pat O’Briens, which features a dueling piano bar and some seriously tasty drinks!
Since New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz, your trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to a jazz club! You can catch a live jazz band any night of the week in the clubs and on the streets.
What to Pack:
- Warm weather clothing such as shorts and tank tops — perfect for strolling around Bourbon Street or heading out on a swamp boat tour.
- Sunblock — it’s sunny and hot in the South!
How to Get Around:
- New Orleans is flat and extremely vibrant and picturesque, making it the perfect walking city. You won’t need a car unless you travel away from the hotspot.
- Other options include buses, taxis, ferries, and streetcars!
