Thirsty Thursday: Margarita Madness - FabFitFun

Thirsty Thursday: Margarita Madness

by  |

We love a good night out with the girls noshing on tortilla chips, freshly smashed guacamole, and flirting with the waiter in Spanish. (Helpful hint: “hola, soy un ladrón, y estoy aquí para robar tu corazón” means “Hello, I am a thief. And I am here to steal your heart.”)

But what we don’t love, is the fact that most margaritas clock in between 250 and 550 calories! Yikes! Luckily this Cinco de Mayo we plan to celebrate in skinny style with some of our fave light margs. Try them out and let us know what you think!

FFF- TTH- Hibiscus Thumb Talavera’s Skinny Hibiscus Margarita
Talavera (a go-to spot for authentic, sophisticated Mexican fare in Miami) has a knack for pairing their delicioso dishes with uh-mazing margaritas! And while we love the restaurant’s “Margarita Lab” sampler pictured above, we die over the Skinny Hibiscus Margarita!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces tequila (El Jimador Reposado)
1 1/2 ounces hibiscus tea (Agua de Jamaica)
1 ounce agave nectar
1 ounce fresh lime juice

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin. Shake ingredients and pour into a margarita glass with a salt rim. Margarita can be served straight up or on the rocks. Garnish with a lime wheel.

FFF- TTH- Blood Orange Blood Orange Margarita
We’re all about fine and fresh ingredients! So of course we went loco over this blood orange marg which uses award-winning Tequila Avión (named the “World’s Best Tasting Tequila” at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition).

Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces Tequila Avión
3/4 ounce Cointreau Orange Liqueur
1 ounce blood orange juice
1/2 ounce fresh sour mix
Ice

Directions:
In a cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients. Shake and strain; best served over fresh ice and garnished with an orange twist.

FFF- TTH- South American Thumb South American Margarita
Not a fan of tequila? No problemo! Try this skinny South American version which uses KAPPA Pisco (created from a double distillation of wine) instead of the blue agave liqueur. This spirit is a South American staple and perfect for celebrating the holiday sans tequila!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces KAPPA Pisco
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge
1/2 ounce agave nectar
1 ounce fresh lime juice

Directions:
Shake ingredients together. Strain over fresh ice into rocks glass. Garnish with lime wheel.
