Thirsty Thursday: Koi Citrus Slim-tini
The party drink that just might be good for you
With all of the holiday libations — Christmas cocktails, liquor-infused eggnog, and bottle after bottle of pumpkin cider — it’s easy to go downhill with your diet when it comes to the drinks you’re downing.
Not only that, but it’s pretty unlikely that you’ll reach for a celery stick when that gingerbread man is staring you square in the eyes. But we’ve got a plan to get you off the liquor luge that will make your belly jiggle like a bowl full of jelly. Enter Koi Los Angeles’ Citrus Slimtini! Yep, even the name makes you feel skinnier!
Using Junmai sake, blood orange juice, hibiscus syrup, agave nectar, and sugar-free, caffeine-free tea, this slimming sip contains only 144 calories but plenty of alcohol to get the party started! Plus, sake pairs fabulously with light meals such as fish and vegetables and has been said to have great health benefits. And now the folks at Los Angeles’ premier Asian-fusion restaurant are sharing the health and giving us the slim-tini recipe!
2 ounces Junmai sake
2 ounces blood orange juice
2 ounces hibiscus syrup
2 ounces sugar-free, caffeine-free tea
½ ounce agave nectar
1 piece fresh ginger
1. Add all ingredients to shaker with ice, shake.
2. Strain into martini glass.
3. Add lemon wedge as a garnish.
