Selfie App Named This Year’s Most Innovative
Anyone who’s active on Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook knows that the selfie struggle is real. Capturing the perfect self-portrait while holding your phone at the right angle, making a cute face, and managing to hit the camera’s shutter button all at the same time can turn us into the most awkward contortionists ever.
Not exactly the look you want when you’re trying to take a new profile picture.
Thankfully, the tech geniuses at CamMe have figure out a way to make taking our own photos much easier. The app was named this year’s most innovative by Mobile World Congress at the 2014 Global Mobile Awards, and with good reason. Its new technology allows users to take selfies from up to 16 feet away. It does this by using gestures to control the device’s camera shutter.
Simply raise your hand, make a fist, and get ready for the picture to snap three seconds later. If you want to have some fun with your photos, you can also use their photo booth feature, or insert your pics into funny locations and backgrounds.
Assaf Gad, the CEO of CamMe’s maker, PointGrab, said, “It’s our goal to make gesture control available across all platforms, laptops, TVs and mobile. CamMe is just an example of the easy and practical way gesture technology is becoming a part of every consumer-electronics user’s life.”
