Raising Well-Rounded Sons
It seems as though culture today only accepts men who are athletic, strong, and brave. We want all of those things for our boys. At the end of the day, we want our tiny, fragile, darling little baby boys to grow up to be strong, resilient, athletic, brave, but above all else, kind.
Kindness: Instill in your baby boy the power of kindness. Teach him to ask his friends about their feelings, to say please and thank you, how to help out around the house and do favors, and to share his toys and games. Watch his kindness blossom as he grows!
Bravery: Bravery doesn’t always mean a showy display of physical strength. Teach your boys what it really means to be brave: telling the truth, acting with grace, showing respect, and doing what is right, even when it’s the harder thing to do. That’s true bravery.
Protection: We must give our boys the tools they need to protect themselves from harm, without resorting to violence. Can your son be comfortable coming to you in the middle of the night with a problem? Are they unafraid to tell you the truth in any situation? Do they know you won’t lash out at them if they make a mistake? Having strong, confident men to act as role models can do a world of difference, one beautiful, little boy at a time.
