We just don’t know how we would accurately describe today’s fashion culture without Zoeism — the eclectic, sometimes eccentric, always entertaining, fashion-forward vernacular of our fave fashionista Rachel Zoe! She is literally one of the most influential forces in fashion today and we die every time we see a new Rachel Zoe collection.

We chatted with the always chic celeb stylist about her new fab clothing lines, fall’s next big trends, her celeb styling wish list and her fondness for frosted lipstick. We promise, it’s bananas!

Who is your ultimate style icon?
Brigitte Bardot. She is the quintessential ’60s bombshell, always sexy, but never too revealing. She epitomizes effortless chic.

What do you think will be the biggest trend for fall?
I’m so excited about velvet for fall. It was all over the runways — from shoes and bags to blazers, pants, tops, and dresses in rich jewel tone color palettes.

We can’t wait for your new clothing/lifestyle brand to debut! Is there a story behind the collection?
The fall collection was inspired by the rock and roll street style of London in the ‘60s — mainly Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull.

What type of girl do you see wearing the clothes from your new line?
A confident girl, one who loves fashion and is not afraid to take risks.

You have a lengthy list of A-list clientele. Anyone you’d love to work with who you haven’t already?
I would love to work with Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton!

You studied sociology in college. What made you decide ultimately to be a stylist?
I have always known I wanted to work in fashion — it has always been a part of me. Growing up, I used to style everyone — friends, family, classmates, even neighbors.

What did you take away from working at Gotham and YM magazines before becoming a stylist?
Always be the first to arrive and the last to leave. Volunteer for anything and everything, show enthusiasm and interest in every task-it goes a long way and helps to set you above the rest. I think more than anything, it’s important to always show humility — never act or appear entitled.

How tough was it to put your entire life on camera for The Rachel Zoe Project?
It’s not easy, that’s for sure — it was definitely an adjustment. My goal for the show was to provide fashion devotees like myself with a behind-the-scenes glance at the world of fashion.

You seem heavily involved in the day-to-day at The Zoe Report. What goes into the decision making on the products featured each day?
I am very involved — I love it! It usually begins with an initial brainstorm. I try to meet with my digital team at least once a week to determine content. We usually test different products, read trend reports, page through editorials, etc. They’re a great focus group.

You met Rodger in college. Did you know right away he was the one for you?
Yes. We met in college while working at a restaurant.

You’ve been married to Rodger for 16 years. Congratulations! Any relationship advice you’d like to share with us?
Be honest, loyal, and don’t get caught up in the small stuff.

What’s the one beauty product you can not leave the house without?
A Tom Ford lip-I love Crimson Noir.

If you weren’t such a huge contributor to the fashion industry, could you see yourself working in another field? If so, which one?
Child Psychology. I am fascinated with the mind.

With so many responsibilities, including being a wife and mommy, how do you stay balanced? How do you relax?
I have an incredible husband, family, and team. Without them, none of this would be possible.

Were you always so stylish? Any particular fashion faux pas you’ve made in the past?
I think everyone has a few fashion skeletons in their closet. For me, it was the ‘80s-frosted lipstick and acid washed jeans.

If we wanted to revamp our wardrobe, what should we start with?
A leather jacket-something tailored or moto inspired, a pencil skirt, flared jeans, an oversized knit, and a great pair of booties.
