Get Boo-tiful This Fall
It’s officially pumpkin-carving time! While we’re tempted to write this post about cool designs you could use on your pumpkins this season (Mockingjay, anyone?), we’re instead giving you advice on how to make good use of all of the goop you scoop. Did you know that pumpkin is super rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, and zinc, all of which are amazing for your skin?
What’s more, pumpkin seeds are also rich in vitamin A, niacin, calcium, iron, zinc, and phosphorus, making them beneficial for your teeth, hair, and nails. Here are a few easy recipes that take advantage of fall’s best DIY beauty source:
Pumpkin Body Scrub
1/4 cup cooked (puréed) pumpkin
1/4 cup brown sugar
Combine ingredients in a small bowl. Then, scrub!
Pumpkin Face Mask
2 tablespoons cooked pumpkin
1 tablespoon honey
Combine ingredients in a small bowl. Apply to face and let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
(To eat, of course! They’re tasty, healthy, and as we mentioned, they can do wonders for your skin and hair.)
1 1/2 cups raw pumpkin seeds
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons kosher salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Toss seeds with olive oil, coating them thoroughly. Add salt. Spread seeds evenly onto a baking sheet and place in the oven for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
