Burn Fat and Boost Your Confidence at Home
Let’s face it ladies, no one feels 100% sexy in their swimsuits, except for maybe Jack Black — which proves that you can actually be just a little too confident.
Anyway. With summer approaching, working on your fitness is a must. And no, your fear of germs at the gym is not a valid excuse to skip (even though, yes, that creepy Situation clone is icky)!
Instead, try picking up a fitness DVD for an at-home workout that will keep the pounds at bay. To sort through the many options out there, Shape magazine’s Fitness Director, Jeanine Detz, shares her top five favorites with us:
Zumba Exhilarate (7-DVD set): “If you love to dance this is for you.” Zumba is a Latin-inspired workout set to shimmy-inducing salsa, merengue, bachata, and more. Detz says, “The home version is just as fun as the studio.”
Rushfit: Need to get fit in a hurry? “Think of this as an eight-week personal training camp in a box! The DVD set includes seven workouts—from strength and endurance to core conditioning. There are modifications for the tougher moves, so anyone can jump right in.”
Element Power Yoga: Yoga newbies, as well as experienced Yogis, should check out this DVD from instructor-to-the-stars Ashley Turner. Detz explains, “During the one-hour workout, you flow from one pose to the next, which burns more calories than holding each position. This is a fabulous mind-body routine.”
Personal Training with Jackie: Xtreme TimeSaver Training: The Bravo superstar has made a name for herself with her intense training skills and rock hard abs. “In just 30 minutes, you can check cardio and strength training off your to-do list with this DVD. This workout is tough, so it’s ideal for someone who’s been exercising for a few months.”
Shape 400-Calorie Fat Blast: Blast away fat with this super charged program. Detz says, “If you’re trying to get rid of that muffin top before bikini season, this is the DVD that will help you do it! It has three 15-minute interval-training workouts that blast calories. Plus, there’s a 10-minute ab-flattening routine.”
