The Oscars Best Dressed
Stars channel old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet
While last night’s Academy Awards ceremony celebrated some of the greatest talent in the industry, it was what was happening on the red carpet outside that really had us glued to our TVs. Well, that and seeing Jennifer Lawrence eat it on the stairs as she went to collect that coveted gold statue.
Last night the women of Hollywood (and a few of the men) brought back the glitz and glamour of old with classic silhouettes and flawless hair and makeup. Long gone were the days of outrageous costumes — we’re looking at you, Cher. Instead, we were treated to some uh-mazing designs that left us seriously wishing we had a little extra room in our closets and a lot of extra money in our bank accounts.
Speaking of J. Law, the actress went with a pale pink Dior Couture ball gown, accessorizing with an understated diamond necklace that went down her back. While the dress bordered on princess wedding gown, Lawrence’s styling pulled the look together.
Jessica Chastain stunned in pink and copper Armani Privé, taking inspiration from Marilyn Monroe’s famous “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” performance. The color complemented her hair beautifully, and we love that she wasn’t afraid to go with red tones to match her gorgeous locks!
Always stunning on the red carpet, Jennifer Garner showed off her fab figure (she’s had three kids!) in a violet Gucci gown and accessorized with a show-stopping Neil Lane necklace.
Several other stars brought out the color, including Jennifer Aniston in bright red Valentino and Jane Fonda (okay, seriously, how amazeballs does she look for her age?!), who wore canary yellow Versace.
Our favorite couple had to be the super sexy Channing Tatum and his very preggers wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum. While we may have preferred him shirtless, seeing him in a fitted Gucci tux was definitely the next best thing. And Jenna looked amaze in black lace, showing off her ever-growing baby bump. But the fact that the couple is undoubtedly in love with each other was the best part of their red carpet look.
Other dapper men’s looks included Bradley Cooper and Hugh Jackman in Tom Ford, Ben Affleck in Gucci, and George Clooney (like we wouldn’t recognize his undying hotness) in Giorgio Armani. We also loved the blue on black Domenico Vacca tux Best Actor winner Daniel Day-Lewis was sporting. There really is nothing like a man in a well-tailored suit!
