Celebrate Oktoberfest all over SoCal
German exports we love include fancy cars, pretzels, everything Heidi Klum, and the invention of the word “schmuck” (which actually means jewelry, but we’ll let that one slide). Yet our absolute favorite export from the old country is the annual excuse to dress up like the von Trapp family while indulging in artisanal beers, an activity otherwise known as Oktoberfest. But since making the actual trek to Deutschland can cost you a pretty euro, we have rounded up the best Oktoberfest-themed celebrations in LA, so you can go Bavarian without going broke. Prost!
833 W. Torrance Blvd., Torrance
Since 1968, this venue has brought the staples of Oktoberfest to sunny SoCal. Friday and Saturday evenings are 21 and over, while Sunday is a fun day for the whole family. Enjoy polka bands, 15 biers on tap, and German grub galore for four weekends straight!
Los Angeles Oktoberfest
6021 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood
This giant celebration features beer and wine tastings, tons of spirited entertainment, and general merriment all around. And with proceeds benefiting local charities, you’ll definitely have something to drink to!
The Phoenix Club
1340 S. Sanderson Ave., Anaheim
Technically this one is in Anaheim, but let’s face it: getting to OC is still easier than getting to Europe. Plus, this fest makes it more than worthwhile with folk dancers, authentic ales, and even…wait for it…pony rides!
345 N. La Brea Ave., Mid-Wilshire
Although this restaurant offers delicious German fare year-round, during Oktoberfest they go all out with live entertainment every weekend. And their expansive sausage list (try the wild boar!) makes this spot a destination in its own right.
