Designers bring their own spins to classic trends on Wednesday’s runways

Wednesday’s runways were a bit of a mixed bag, from chic sportswear to outrageous colors!

The inspiration for Michael Kors’ Fall 2013 collection was “urban athleticism meets uptown polish,” which the designer conveyed with bright colors, houndstooth and camouflage patterns, and structured coats.
While we’re not totally in love with the women’s looks, Kors’ menswear collection was sleek, polished, and super sexy!

Rachel Zoe said she took inspiration for her Fall collection from the English equestrian style: “I gave her a really tough edge, a really cool air about her, and totally androgyny. I used leather, suedes, metals, sequins, and chains just to kind of toughen her up a little.” To be sure, Zoe’s looks felt like something you might see on an English countryside, but the designer’s expertise with layering and finishing touches made each piece feel like it could be completely wearable in our everyday world. Her collections seriously make us wish it was Fall already!

Anna Sui brought back the 60s with her retro inspired NYFW runway show. Everything from velvet to knee high socks to psychedelic prints were visited in her collection. Anna seemed to channel every color of the rainbow for her collection as well with bold emeralds, blues and reds at the forefront. This bright and vibrant show was a cheery break from the blistering cold in NYC.
