Chatting with Miss USA
Counting machine turned beauty queen
Don’t let the long lashes, bronze skin, and fabulous hair fool you – the former financial analyst and current Miss USA is more than just her exceptionally beautiful face!
During our fab trip to Cancun we had the opportunity to hang out with the lovely Miss USA, Erin Brady. We took a Zumba class, released sea turtles into the ocean and chatted about her pageant secrets, her love of peanut butter, and how she always looks so completely gorgeous!
So you just got done with a fabulous Zumba workout with the lovely ladies of Bright Pink. How was it?
Amazing! I’ve actually never done Zumba before. I have been a dancer for 10 years so this was a lot of fun.
You have an amazing body! What is your go to workout?
I love running. I live really close to Central Park, which is a great place for a run. I also love to do yoga. When everything gets stressful, it’s a great way to relax and unwind. I am also a pretty healthy eater.
Speaking of healthy eating what is your favorite healthy snack?
Trail mix great on the go. I also eat a lot of almonds and fresh fruit.
If you could make any food have zero calories – what would it be?
Ice cream! And I love anything with peanut butter in it so something like a chunky Reese’s Peanut Butter sundae.
Um yum! OK you have great taste in sweets! Tell us a little about your typical beauty routine. What does it look like?
Cleanser and light toner. I tend to have oilier skin so I don’t really use moisturizer in the summer but I do in the winter. Oh, and of course SPF daily.
What is the one beauty product you don’t leave the house without?
I am a lip gloss girl! I probably have 13 in my purse right now?
I am really enjoying corals this summer. I have naturally pink lips so I like things with a light color and a little shimmer.
So obviously you are here in beautiful Cancun for the fabulous Farouk Conference. Do you use a lot of their products?
Absolutely. I was introduced to them through the Miss USA Competition. I love their new Keratin line. My hair can get frizz so it is a huge help. And I love the Biosilk as well. It’s great for curly hair and helps you get a nice sleek look. And it really helps protect hair from heat damage. When you’re in a competition your hair is constantly overworked and these products really help keep it healthy.
Agreed. We love Biosilk too. Especially the smell!
Yes, and did you know it is multipurpose? You can use it on your skin and it will give you a great sheen.
So what do you think people would be most surprised to learn about a pageant queen?
That we have a brain!! Intelligence is so important. You can’t win a competition without it. People always assume that there is nothing beneath the surface and I love proving them wrong. We are a bunch of smart young ladies.
What advice would you give to someone who wanted to enter a pageant?
No matter what you do you can’t doubt yourself. You have to have a ton of determination. You have to be confident, comfortable and feel 110% when you’re on stage. It can be really intimidating being around a big group of such beautiful women but you just have to remember who you are. And remember that the competition is a marathon not a sprint.
So what are you looking forward to most about your yearlong reign?
The Miss Universe competition. It’s happening in Moscow, Russia. It’s really a different ball game. You have women competing from all over the world. It’s going to be amazing. I can’t wait.
