Does This Bra Make Me Look Fat?
Microsoft developing bra that helps curb overeating
We all know there’s no better feeling than taking off your bra at the end of the day. In fact, some days we’re so excited to rid ourselves of our uncomfortable undergarments that we barely make it through the door before reaching underneath our shirt to unhook our unmentionables.
Now, Microsoft Research is developing a bra that may make you think twice about free-boobing during dinner. Their new brassiere can detect stress in order to help prevent women from emotionally overeating.
The invention is the result of a study by researchers at the University of Rochester and the University of Southampton that showed most women would prefer an individualized solution to their stress-induced eating. That prompted the team to develop a bra that could track the heart rate, respiration, skin conductance, and movement of the wearer, and send that information to a smartphone app. That way, women can have an easier time recognizing patterns in their moods and eating habits.
So next time a stressful workday has you reaching for a doughnut, it could be your ol’ Wonderbra that keeps you from consuming useless calories. That’s a different kind of support than we’re used to getting from our pushups!
