Think you know good nutrition? Think again! Here are some diet insights that might actually change your nutrition habits:
Eating less doesn’t mean you’ll lose weight. Did you know that on average, women who skip breakfast tend to weigh more than women who eat a healthy, balanced breakfast? Skipping breakfast can cause your blood sugar levels to crash, which only drives cravings and binging later in the day. Do yourself a favor, and don’t skip the first meal of the day!
Fat Is Good For You…Monounsaturated fat, that is. I like to call it “good fat” because it helps to keep cholesterol low and can help prevent heart disease. You can find monounsaturated fats in power foods like avocados, olive oil, and nuts.
Eating more meals is better for you. Many nutrition experts recommend eating five small meals throughout the day instead of three large meals. Eating smaller meals more frequently can keep your total caloric intake unchanged, while also keeping your blood sugar level stable. This will help to prevent cravings, as well as keep you feeling fuller in between meals.
