Beauty Tuesday: Sweat the Small Stuff

Now we know you’ve been told for years not to sweat the small stuff. But when it comes to beauty, the small stuff can become as big as an elephant in the room with sunburned ears!

That’s why we chatted with renowned dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downie director of Image Dermatology, who shared essential treatments for those forgotten areas that can help maintain your appearance from head to toe.

“When thinking about their overall beauty regimen, women often forget to take care of the smaller areas, such as the eyelashes, ears, and elbows, which can really make an impact on your overall appearance when taken care of on a daily basis,” Jeanine said.

Tiny Tips to Make a Big Difference:

  • Many women don’t know that lashes can thin over time. I recommend LATISSE to my patients. It is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment option to grow longer, darker, fuller lashes in as little as four weeks, with full results in 16 weeks.
  • Sunscreen is another must-have item. Sun exposure causes wrinkles and age spots and can even lead to skin cancer. Make sure to remember to apply sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30 to the places that are not covered by clothing or hats, like your ears and below the eyes! These spots are thin and more sensitive to sun than other parts of our bodies.
  • Believe it or not, elbows can give away our age and is one of the first places to show signs of aging. Be sure to pay attention to the small areas of the body that might not always be so visible. Lather on thick lotion or a skin balm to massage your elbows. While you’re at it, remember to hit those knees too!
