Skate this Season!
Warm up your inner ice princess
The season ’tis upon us when scarves have found their way to the tops of our drawers, our boots have been dusted off, ready for their winter debut (even if they also made their debut last winter and maybe the one before that, too), and our house smells of pumpkin candles to make up for the lack of freshly baked pies that will not be made in our kitchens this year.
Finish off your seasonal preparations by doing the only wintery thing left to do — ice skate! Just because we live in sunny SoCal doesn’t mean we can’t pretend it’s really a winter wonderland out there! Pick your rink, grab some friends and family, and don those mittens and earmuffs ’cause it’s time to channel your inner Michelle Kwan.
ICE at Santa Monica
Through Jan. 21
1324 5th St., Santa Monica
Just because the beach is a block away doesn’t mean Santa Monica can’t transform itself into the iciest coast around! See for yourself at the 8,000-sq.-ft. rink that’s open daily for family, friends, and couples to enjoy! It’s the perfect location to get out and enjoy some shopping, street performers, or dining before lacing up your skates!
Chill at W Los Angeles
Through Jan. 3
930 Hilgard Ave., Westwood
The upscale W Hotel transforms its Wet pool to Chill ice rink every season and it never disappoints. It’s the perfect place to bring a date to enjoy specialty cocktails, private winter cabanas, and romantic snowfalls every hour! Ladies, tell your man you want a winter wonderland getaway to this hot winter spot.
Woodland Hills Ice
Through Jan. 27
Westfield Promenade, 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills
This outdoor winter ice rink offers free skating daily, a skating school, and if you’re looking for a spot to host your company’s holiday party, look no further! Or if you’re a mom looking to beat exercise boredom, try a morning workout created just for you — talk about heating up the holidays!
8041 Jackson St., Paramount
Touting the coolest rink with the warmest people, this indoor arena offers daily public skating and is even hosting a holiday show on Dec. 8 for one and all to see! Many of Southern California’s Olympic hopefuls practice on this famous ice rink. No wonder it’s been around for over 70 years!
Downtown on Ice
Through Jan. 21
Pershing Square, 532 S. Olive Ave., Downtown
We may not live in NYC, but we can still try to bring Rockefeller Center close to home by skating on downtown’s Pershing Square — the spot for LA’s original outdoor rink. Check out the free attractions and games plus enjoy the feeling of holiday hubbub in a bustling city.
