‘Hunger Games’ Theme Park
Can you make it the Panem arena?
Attention fans of The Hunger Games! If you read about all of the pain and suffering Katniss struggled through in the arena and thought, “I wish I could try that,” your dream just might come true.
In a conference call with analysts last week, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer let slip that the studio has been “approached in two territories” about a Hunger Games theme park. He didn’t give any more information, but did say that studio execs are “excited about those opportunities and are pursuing them.”
So what would a Hunger Games park look like? Roller coasters with poisonous fog? A food court at the Cornucopia? Teenagers battling to the death over limited supplies? No one really knows. The idea might seem a little strange to fans of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian YA novels, since the games are a representation of a society that prizes deadly entertainment over all else.
Whatever Lionsgate decides, we just hope that they leave out the tracker jackers.
In the meantime, Catching Fire, the second film in the four-part series, is set to open Nov. 22. It follows Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) as they return to the Hunger Games while unrest builds in the Districts. Our boyfriend Liam Hemsworth also stars.
What do you hope to see at the Hunger Games theme park? Let us know in the comments!
