Red Carpet Party
Throw a fabulous fête for awards show season!
“We’d like to thank all of the little people, our hairdresser, our husband Ryan Gosling, and…” oh – sorry, we were just daydreaming about our favorite time of the year: awards show season!
Yep, from the Grammys to the Emmys to the SAG Awards to the Oscars, awards season is like the World Series for us entertainment-lovin’ gals. And let’s be honest — you’re a nobody in the office the next day if you don’t know what Charlize Theron was wearing on the red carpet.
So put on your fanciest dress, dust off your gold statue, and call up Ryan and G because it’s almost time to host a red carpet party that will sweep the awards for best soirée of the season! Not sure where to start? Well you’ve come to the right place!
Invitations: Announce your party to all of your friends with a themed Evite like these, or create your own paper invitations like this one!
The Envelope Please: Use this template to create an envelope out of red cardstock. Print and glue a piece of paper on the outside that says “And the award goes to…” On the inside of each envelope, glue a piece of paper with the guest’s name and all of the party details. Seal the envelopes with a gold sticker and either hand deliver or mail them to your invitees! Be sure to specify whether the event is casual, cocktail, or a black-tie affair!
What to Wear: Of course you’ll want to be on the Best Dressed List after the event, so you need to make sure you’re looking fab! Here are some ideas for uh-mazing awards party frocks!
Decor: What would an awards show be without a red carpet?! DIY by buying cheap red fabric and securing it to the entryway of your party, or purchase a plastic version like this one.
Backdrop: You can line the carpet with gold balloons tied to sandbags, or with potted flowers to make it even more fancy. If you really want to make your event extra authentic, get a strobe light to flash like paparazzi, and have someone with a camera to snap shots of each guest as they arrive!
Ballots: Cover a table with a black tablecloth and display five boxes (try using tissue boxes) covered in gold wrapping paper and marked with the five biggest categories (the four acting categories and Best Picture). Offer pre-printed ballots with pens for people to cast their predictions for the winners. Count the ballots on commercial breaks, and whoever predicted the most winners takes home a prize! (Don’t forget to make them give an acceptance speech!)
On the Menu: Set up a table with a tray of pre-poured champagne as well as a bucket of bottles on ice tied with a gold ribbon. You can also display your snacks and hors d’oeuvres on one side of this table. Try these awesome recipes!
Extras: Make the night super memorable for your guests by escorting them to the gifting suite (maybe your den or hallway) where they can pick up their swag bag filled with popcorn, travel-sized beauty products, candy, or even an iTunes or movie gift card!
