How to Survive the Holidays with Your Little One
Tips for a healthy holiday season
The holidays are right around the corner, and with that come fun, food, and lots of stress. Here are some of our tips to keep you happy, healthy, and sane throughout this all too stressful holiday season!
Make use of family time: Everyone wants to see your new baby, duh! With all this grandma/grandpa time, take advantage of all these built-in babysitters to go off on your own to de-stress and enjoy time with your hubby!
Get up early: Seizing the day before the chaos starts is key. Set your alarm earlier to sneak in a workout, organize paperwork, or catch up on cleaning. It will pay off later in the day.
Fuel your body right: Eating unhealthy during the holiday season seems illegally easy, ladies! But fueling your body with lean proteins, fruits, and veggies will give you extra energy and will definitely boost your mood.
Be prepared: Have extras of everything — diapers, baby food, clothes, medicine. With the holidays, stores will close on certain days, and you never know when you’ll need last minute emergency items. Having everything organized beforehand will help you avoid headaches later on.
Get extra Zs: Sure, it’s fun to reminisce with family and friends late into the night, but setting a relatively realistic bedtime for yourself will give you enough time to recharge your batteries so you don’t burn out. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint!
Be in the Moment Your baby’s first holiday season is super special…the cute outfits, the pictures, the oohs and ahs. Take time to enjoy it, and revel in the season! After it’s over, you’ll miss the memories more if you haven’t truly enjoyed yourself in the moment.
