The super fit trainer is the founder of cibo verde, a meal delivery system that caters to customers’ body calculations to help them reach their weight goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Here’s what he had to say on the reasoning behind oft-touted fit tips.

1. Sleep at least 7 hours each night
A good night’s sleep lowers your stress, sharpens your memory, and reduces cravings for unhealthy food.

2. Choose colorful fruit and veggies
They are packed with flavonoids and carotenoids — powerful compounds against inflammation and free radicals.

A lot of people think they end up saving calories if they avoid breakfast but what they don’t realize that they usually over-eat later because your body is starved and trying to over-compensate for starvation mode.
