    If you think your family get-togethers are explosive, just imagine if Teresa Giudice was sitting at the dinner table! New cast member, Melissa Gorga, from The Real Housewives of New Jersey is Mrs. Giudice’s sister-in-law…and can we just say? That is a lot of glam for one fam!

    Yep, the pint-sized mom, singer, and author (her new book comes out next fall) knows a thing or two about entertaining family and friends. And this season, as she celebrates another year of health and happiness, Melissa is giving us her best hosting suggestions, fit tips, and fave low-cal cocktail recipes!

    Melissa’s Healthy Hosting Tips

    “Joe and I love entertaining and the more the merrier around the holidays! I always make sure there is a huge display of food. As soon as my guests walk in, they instantly are given a cocktail and the (holiday) music is always playing in the background!

    “I know not everyone is a cook or a baker, but it’s always best to try and bring something homemade especially during the holidays! Do whatever you are good at. It’s just seems more special when it’s homemade!

    “Always have a special cocktail of the night! That way guests don’t have to decide and you don’t have to figure out how to make complicated drinks. You can offer them your specialty and some simple pairings of wine and beer.

    “My specialty cocktail next year will be a Light Pom Spritz — Voli Light Vodka with pomegranate juice and a splash of club soda. I always open a fresh pomegranate and put the seeds on top, the juice you can buy!”

    The Light NYE Cocktail Recipes Melissa Loves:

    Rasp and Bramble
    Ingredients:
    2 ounces Voli Raspberry Cocoa
    2 raspberries
    2 blackberries
    1 ounce Pom Pomegranate Cherry
    1/4 ounce lemon juice
    1/4 ounce maple syrup
    Raspberries for garnish

    Directions:
    Muddle berries with maple syrup. Add all ingredients then shake and strain into a martini glass.

    Nutritional Information: Approx. 158 calories


    Sultry Red
    2 ounces Raspberry Cocoa
    2 raspberries
    2 blackberries
    1 ounce apple cider
    1/4 ounce maple syrup
    Raspberries for garnish

    Directions:
    Muddle berries and maple syrup. Add all ingredients then shake and strain into a martini glass.

    Nutritional Information: Approx. 150 calories


    Raspberry Cocoa Martini
    2 ounces Voli Raspberry Cocoa
    1/2 ounce Cream de Cacao White
    Raspberries for garnish

    Directions:
    Shake and strain into a martini glass

    Nutritional information: Approx. 156 calories


    Melissa’s Fitness Tips to Combat Holiday Indulgences

    “I typically don’t do a lot of cardio because I am constantly running around with my kids. I think when you have active kids you get cardio that way…Running up and downs the stairs and around the house!

    “For me, I want to have a toned figure and don’t have time to work out for hours upon hours each day. I do weight training with lots of repetitions at least three times a week. It’s easy to do in your home using free weights and resistance bands, too!

    “The one area I always target is my legs. I’m always trying to tone my inner thighs, so I do a lot of lunges, squats and single-leg exercises.

    “I also try to get to a class or two at the gym when I can. It’s fun because you can be around other people and it helps motivate you.”
