Here Comes the
It’s easy being green on your wedding day
Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something…green? More and more couples are searching for eco-friendly options when it comes to wedding venues, food, and more (cheers to that!). But finding green options isn’t always easy, so we sat down with Be U Weddings founder Sacha Krasney to get some expert tips on creating an eco-friendly wedding day.
Use organic produce for the reception meal
Find a catering service that uses organic produce in their meals, Krasney said. Sites like GreenBrideGuide.com offer lists of wedding vendors with green values across the country.
Host your nuptials at an eco-friendly venue
Find a venue in your area that is committed to sustainability, she said. The Greenhouse Loft is in a LEED Platinum-certified space. The space also hosts a state-of-the-art green roof and a 41,329-gallon rain cistern which allows rainwater to be recaptured and used for irrigation. Also look into green hotels that offer sustainable options like low-flow showerheads and recycling.
Donate your wedding dress
Your most prized possession on your wedding day could help another bride in need, Krasney said. Sites like DonateMyWeddingDress.org give used wedding dresses to causes that sell them to help underprivileged children, parishes in Haiti, and breast cancer patients.
