Keeping up with all the latest facials: really crazy expensive!
Facials are great for your skin, but tough on the wallet. Still, don’t give up on those cucumber slices quite yet – there are ways to reap the anti-aging, deep cleansing benefits without breaking the bank! Today we’ve got two fabulous Do It Yourself solutions from the amazing skincare guru Kate Somerville.
Pretty soon, you’ll be starring in your own beauty commercial, or at least pretending to star – Rogelio, where’s my latteeeee?
DIY Facial #1: Food Facial
- Mix plain, organic yogurt and ground flax seeds in a bowl.
- Scrub into skin with circular motions. Leave on for 3-5 minutes.
- Rinse.
- Heat up honey.
- Paint honey on face for hydration.
- Rinse and apply olive oil for moisture.
DIY Facial #2: Bathroom Counter Facial
- Cleanse face with sulfate-free wash. We like Kissed – Gentle Foaming cleanser.
– Steam. Drape towel over head and carefully hover over a pot of steaming water, or place washcloth over face in hot bathtub, or crank up the shower.
- Exfoliate. Use a light scrub with fine spherical beads such as DDF’s Pumice Acne Scrub. Scrub in circular motions for 30 seconds to a minute.
- Rinse and apply a hydrating serum containing alpha-hydroxy like Kate’s Quench Hydrating Serum.
- Extract. Soak washcloth in hot water, wring out and hold over pimple for one minute. Wrap index fingers in tissues. Pierce center of blemish with a lancet. Gently squeeze with wrapped fingers. Dab area with witch hazel and apply Neosporin.
- Lock in hydration with serum containing hyaluronic acid.
- Apply eye cream and moisturizer. Kiehl’s is a great choice.
Youth – it’s too good to be just for the rich.
