Disco girls are making a comeback!

Disco Hair

What’s the difference between disco hair and a disco ball? The disco ball can fit in your car.

Yes ladies, big, bold hair is back and better than ever. The swinging ’70s style has never been hotter. But it’s not just flared jeans and maxi dresses. Big volume and middle parts have been taking over runways and red carpets all season long.

We chatted with celeb stylist, west coast spokesperson for Sebastian Professional, and owner of the über-fabulous Hairroin Salon, Janine Jarman, about how to create the groovy looks at home. Check out her tips for two disco-ready looks!

The Disco Queen
Start with damp hair. Apply Sebastian Taming Elixir and Whipped Crème from roots to ends. Part hair in the middle, then tendril out in one-inch sections. Use a hair dryer diffuser to blow dry. (A diffuser is an attachment that fits on the end of your dryer and helps to create volume. You can get one at your local beauty supply store.) When dry, run a dab of Sebastian Liquid Gloss through the ends and shake loose. You can refine this look and make it even more extreme by going over each section with a small iron and wrap, curling the unruly bits.

Mane in the Middle
Say “bye bye” to side fringe and “hello” to middle part! To get disco-licious locks that last, spray Sebastian Volupt from roots to ends. Then blow dry (middle part first) with a medium-sized round metal brush, rolling hair up and in. Clip each section after it dries on the brush. Once hair is completely dry and cool, drop clips out and finish with Sebastian Shaper Zero Gravity hair spray.
