    Workout Wednesdays: easy food swaps to improve your diet

    OK, I get it. Everyone has a “cheat day” with their diet.  That is totally cool, provided it is in moderation.  However, if you simply have to have your daily fix of something indulgent (read: your ‘must have’ morning latte), then check out these three easy food swaps to cut out the extra calories each day:

    1. Swap your morning latte for a Skinny Vanilla Latte at Starbucks.  This delectable drink tastes great, packs a caffeine punch, and comes in at a very manageable 80 calories for 16 ounces (“grande” size).  The trick is the use of non-fat milk and sugar-free vanilla syrup.

    2. Swap your afternoon sugar binge for dark chocolate.  Aside from tasting delicious, dark chocolate is chock-full of immune-boosting antioxidants.  Plus, dark chocolate has a more bitter taste than most sweets, so a little bit goes a long way to satisfy cravings.

    3.  Swap your fruity Happy Hour cocktail for a vodka with soda water and a lime.  Yes, I know it is temping to down a frozen pink cocktail with a mini umbrella stuck in it.  But while you may see “delicious drink,” I see a ton of sugar and empty calories.  A vodka with soda water and a squeeze of lime comes in at just 80-108 calories, which is a much better option.  Just make sure you’ve had a bite to eat before consuming one, or else you’ll be a hot mess in a dress soon enough!
