Work hard, play harder at Chuck’s Manufacturing
If the term “working lunch” makes you think of eating leftovers in your cubicle, passing greasy takeout around a stuffy conference room, or cramming yourself into the back corner of a coffee shop, fighting for the last electrical outlet, you're not alone. Why hasn’t anyone raised the bar? Is it too much to ask for a lunch spot that leaves us feeling professional and not covered in pumpkin spice latte?
Well, perhaps our prayers have been answered. A new spot called Chuck’s Manufacturing has a section that caters to the needs of business lunchers. Solo diners can plug in at one of the many outlets, grab a healthy snack at the flavored popcorn bar and, what’s that? You forgot your charger? No problem, Chuck’s offers a huge selection of smartphone chargers that you can snag for free while you’re working. And when you finally wrap up that killer presentation, hand your laptop over to Chuck’s Tech Check and let them babysit your stuff while you have a celebratory cocktail.
We were a little worried that the Michigan Avenue spot would be all work and no play, but the space totally transforms at happy hour (or what they like to call “overtime”). Live DJs spin tunes every weekday, and they’ve added enough flat screens to guarantee you’ll catch the game with your man after work. We’re thinking Chuck’s might have perfected the work/life balance, but then again, they had us at “flavored popcorn bar.“
