Pump up the Volume
Create red carpet-worthy hair at home
When we spotted Real Housewife Dina Manzo heading out of our favorite blow-out salon with a perfectly done ‘do, we had a few questions:
1. Are we in New Jersey?
2. Where’s the party?
3. How do we get that hair?
Lucky for us, Blowtique’s creative director, Rhona Kane, was armed and ready with a handful of styling tips to help us get that New Jersey volume:
The bigger, the better: “Bump up the base and tease the top crown of the hair! It helps with volume and everyone looks better with a little lift!” Rhona suggests Spornette’s Little Wonder.
Keep it clean: “Invest in a texturizing product (like Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray ) and use it before and after styling — it absorbs excess oil so your ‘poof’ will last longer and its clean scent freshens up hair.”
Go Natural: “Brush dry hair with a 100% boar bristle brush — this will keep the oil at the scalp moving down the strand, and not stuck at the root, causing less damage to the hair shaft.”
If you’re too intimidated (or hair-challenged, like us) to try this style yourself, just head into Blowtique and ask for The Deep Ellum. It’s a voluminous blow-out known for big curls and a smooth and shiny finish. It’s also only $35. We like.
