Beyoncé Duets With Blind Teenage Fan
We’re just going to go ahead and say it: Beyoncé is the coolest pop star of all time. A true woman of the people, Mrs. Carter is known for getting up close and personal with her fans (even if it means getting pulled offstage by crazed concert-goers). But last Friday, Queen Bey outdid herself when she sang with inspiring young fan Sophie Kotkis during a tour stop in Perth, Australia.
It all started when Sophie’s big sister, Ellie, made a video explaining why she thought her blind and hearing impaired 13-year-old little sis deserved to meet Beyoncé.
“She’s never really been able to go to a concert due to logistical reasons so I made a video about Sophie,” Ellie explained to Perth News. “Even with everything that she’s been through, she’s been able to do so much. She raised over $1000 for people with multiple sclerosis at the Run A Muck (for the MS Society). I put that all in the video and I just said that I think someone as amazing as Sophie deserves to meet someone as amazing as you (Beyonce).”
When the video found its way to Beyoncé’s manager, Sophie was invited to attend the concert so that her dream could finally come true. At the show, B crossed the stage to dedicate her performance of Irreplaceable to the special fan.
“Everybody say, ‘Hello Sophie’,” she told the crowd. “Sophie, I think I need you to help me sing this song. Do you think you can sing ‘To the left, to the left’?”
Sophie wasn’t the only one ecstatic about the pop star’s special attention. Sister Ellie said afterward, “It was so important for me because there’s been a lot of things in life that Sophie hasn’t been able to do, but she loves music, loves to dance and loves to sing and this was just something for me to show the world how amazing she is.”
Sophie is a very lucky gal! Check out the video of her performance below. It’s a tear jerker!
