What to wear to optimize your workout
Believe it or not, the clothes you wear when you are getting your sweat on can actually affect your workout performance. If you are going to spend an hour busting your butt at the gym, you want to maximize your results during that time, right? Right. Here are my top fashion must haves when it comes to your workout gear:
Wear Breathable Fabric: In layman’s terms, breathability means the measure of how fast moisture passes through a fabric. That is to say, if you are going to avoid breathable fabrics, you should douse yourself in deodorant because you will be trapping in all of your sweat. (Yuck!) Typically, synthetic materials are considered less breathable. Opt for natural fabrics like cotton and linen.
Buy Clothes That Support Your Movements: This seems like a no-brainer, but we have all seen a girl in the gym wearing clothes that are waaaay too tight. Don’t let that be you. Restrictive gym clothes can also trap sweat, which means you may look good in your super tight booty shorts but you probably don’t smell great… Also, I think it goes without saying that a proper sports bra is a must. If your girls are doing a little too much bouncing during your workout, it’s time to invest in a more supportive bra.
Dry Fit Is Your Best Bet: Dry fit (or performance dry) clothing is made from a high tech fabric designed to keep you dry during your sweat sesh. The downside is that dry fit workout gear is often a bit more pricey than other workout clothes. When your budget is tight, skip the dry fit fabric and opt for cotton or linen.
