Beauty Tuesday: Winning Emmy Looks
While watching the Emmys on Sunday night, there was only one song going through our heads. (And no, it wasn’t “The Song in the Middle of the Show!”) Nope, it went more like, “Beauty, beauty, beauty, beauty rockin’ everywhere!”
That’s right, there were a ton of gorgeous looks on the red carpet! From bold lips to whimsical waves, we’ll definitely be recreating some of the hair and makeup that the stars were flaunting. Here are some of the standouts from the night, and how you can steal the styles!
The 22-year-old star may have aged herself a bit. But hey, we’re older than 22, and we’d gladly rock this look! We love the burgundy lip paired with long lashes and a side-parted slicked low pony. Try Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick (wow, that’s a mouthful!) in Forbidden Burgundy. Side part your hair with a comb and pull it tightly to the nape of your neck. Leave a one-inch section out, and pull the rest of your hair in a ponytail, securing it with a band. Wrap the loose section around the base to disguise the hair tie, and bobby pin it into the center of the ponytail.
This Nashville star ain’t no country bumpkin! Connie’s strawberry waves were the “mane” attraction when it came to her Emmy styling. She kept her makeup muted with a light peach lip and neutral tones. Achieve this look with the help of a 1-inch barrelled wand curling iron like this one from CHI Orbit (or take the clamp off of your traditional curling iron). Start your curls at about eye level and finish the look with a peach lip gloss. (Our fave is MAC’s Tinted Lipglass in Razzledazzler.)
You’d have to be mad not to love 13-year-old Kiernan Shipka! The young starlet was styled perfectly for her age, while still staying true to some of the biggest trends of the season. And even though she’s *a few* years our junior, we’d rock this look day-to-day anytime! In fact, we’re crazy about Kiernan’s thick brow, which we’ll be recreating with the help of Anastasia’s Go Brow kit. The actress stuck to pink hues for her eyeshadow and lip, and her hair was styled in waves, pulled back in a loose mid-height ponytail.
She may have rocked silvery hues on the red carpet, but the Bones star isn’t an ice queen! Presenting alongside sister Zooey, Emily offset her asymmetrical silver lace dress with a fuchsia lip that we were dying over, and grey eyeliner along the bottom rim of her baby blues. Recreate the look with Covergirl’s Perfect Point Plus eyeliner in Charcoal, along with MAC’s creamy Lipstick in Candy Yum Yum.
