Get Fit at the Bar
We’ll admit it. We agreed to work out with our BFF last weekend because she mentioned the word “bar.” So we were a little surprised to spend an intense, butt-busting hour at a ballet bar rather than our neighborhood pub. What can we say? We’re still in holiday mode. But it’s about time we dusted off our yoga pants and got back into a healthy routine. And we’re heading back to The Bar Method Chicago to get started.
The Bar Method will mark its fifth birthday in 2013 and, to celebrate, the studio is offering an amazing package to get you motivated. The “We’re Turning Five…You’re Turning Fabulous!” challenge dares new and current members to attend five classes per week for five weeks. If you hang on until the end, you’ll be eligible to win some incredible prizes.
The challenge begins Jan. 7, but why wait to get started? The ladies from The Bar Method Chicago have been gracious enough to share a few tips to keep you moving and healthy through the holidays:
Make time for yourself: Schedule your workouts (i.e. reserve spaces in classes) and put them on your calendar. Then stick to your routine!
Get it over with: During the holidays especially, work out in the morning before work so you can take advantage of spontaneous social invitations after work without missing your workout!
Keep it interesting: Do workouts that have an interval structure — a high-intensity interval followed by a lower-intensity interval. Interval training workouts are proven to burn more calories and fat and get results faster!
